40 Years of Milestones

From a bold vision in 1986 to a global institution in 2026.

1986

AGM Founded

Founded in 1986 through the generous donation of the Minassian Family, AGM was established next to the Forty Martyrs Armenian Apostolic Church — committed to academic achievement, personal growth, and community.

1987

First Year Successfully Concluded

Under the leadership of Principal Lillie Merigian, AGM successfully concluded its first year with 39 students — 18 pre-kindergarteners, 12 kindergarteners, 7 first graders, and 2 second graders — with plans to add more grades in the years to come.

AGM celebrated its first graduating class — 6 students who carried forward not only strong academics, but a deep grounding in Armenian language, faith, and heritage. From its earliest years, AGM set the tone for generations of students to grow as proud bearers of Armenian identity and culture.

School Opens Computer, Science Lab

December 3, 1994 — A memorable milestone for AGM School with the inauguration of its new computer and science laboratory, bringing technology, innovation, and new learning opportunities to future generations of students. Proud to reflect on moments that contributed to education, growth, and the Armenian community.

A Remarkable 10-Year Anniversary

1986–1996 — Ten years of dedication, faith, and growth. Under the guidance of Principal Vahram Shemmassian, AGM celebrated a decade of nurturing young minds, strengthening Armenian identity, and building a community where students, families, and teachers came together as one. A heartfelt milestone honoring everyone whose love and devotion made these ten years possible.

The Best of Both Worlds

AGM's success became evident in the achievements of its alumni, who performed at the highest standards in secondary and higher education. As the only full-time Armenian educational institution in Orange County, the school continued its mission to offer the "Best of Both Worlds" — strong academics rooted in Armenian language, faith, and culture.

Stepping into the 21st Century

As education became the defining key of the 21st century, AGM students rose to the occasion — earning significant academic achievements and bringing home top honors from competitions across the area. The Finance Committee dedicated 100% of its efforts to providing the resources and tools needed to support and elevate student learning.

A Safe Place to Grow

Under the leadership of Principal Assadour Assadourian, AGM had become a safe place for so many Armenian families across Orange County — a school where children grew not only academically, but in character, faith, and identity, learning Armenian culture and heritage alongside their studies.

20th Anniversary Celebration

A remarkable 20-year milestone for AGM, made all the more memorable by the blessed visit of His Holiness Aram A Cathilicos. Surrounded by students, families, faculty, and community, AGM celebrated two decades of nurturing Armenian faith, language, and learning — a moment of pride, gratitude, and renewed commitment to the generations ahead.

New Playground & PTO Initiatives

Through the PTO's combined efforts, AGM welcomed a brand-new playground with equipment for ages 2–12, renovated restrooms, and a revised recess schedule under Principal Assadourian — helping prepare the school we all cherish for its next twenty years.

2009

Mihranian Field Completed

Made possible by dedicated donors, the School Board, and tireless volunteers, Mihranian Field gave students a home for sports, activities, and school events. Under Principal Kohar Zaher's leadership, it became a lasting symbol of school spirit and community unity.

25th Anniversary

AGM celebrates 25 years of service — providing strong academics while preserving Armenian language, faith, and culture. This milestone year also brought a successful WASC review, affirming AGM's commitment to educational excellence. With gratitude to our principal, teachers, PTO, School Board, parents, and supporters, we look ahead with pride to many more successful years.

A Landmark Year of Growth

The 2014 school year was a landmark year for AGM Armenian School, marked by strong academic achievement and student success. The school reached an enrollment milestone of 120 students, reflecting steady growth and community trust. It was a year of progress, pride, and preparation for continued expansion in the years ahead.

A Remarkable 30-Year Anniversary

1986–2016 — Three decades of dedication, faith, and growth. Surrounded by students, families, faculty, and community, AGM celebrated thirty years of nurturing Armenian faith, language, and learning. The milestone was further distinguished by the PTO's heartfelt commitment, which resulted in a $10,000 donation in support of the school — a powerful reflection of the love and devotion shared across generations of the AGM family.

STEAM Laboratory Introduced

AGM School introduced its new STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) Laboratory, made possible through the generosity of the Shawnt Hampartsumian Technology Fund. The initiative marked a major step forward in innovation and modern education at AGM.

Facility Expansion & Modernization

With generous support from the Forty Martyrs Armenian Church Board of Trustees and Pastor, AGM added new Pre-K and kindergarten classrooms, upgraded administration spaces, and improved campus facilities and security — reflecting strong community growth and a continued commitment to a better learning environment for students.

Daring to Dream

The year 2020 was a defining milestone for AGM Armenian School, marked by the theme "Daring to Dream." Despite the global pandemic and major challenges, the school continued its mission with resilience, unity, and dedication, ensuring students received a strong and meaningful education. The year also brought significant facility improvements, including a new exterior and campus renovations.

2021

35th Anniversary

AGM celebrated its 35th anniversary in a year filled with "not again" moments — yet through perseverance and unity, it became a remarkably successful one. Principal Ani Sarkissian stepped in during one of the school's most trying times, and her enthusiasm, creativity, and level-headed leadership quickly revived school spirit and reenergized students, staff, and administration alike.

A Year of Growth & Generosity

AGM kicked off the year with its inaugural golf tournament, bringing the AGM family together for a successful fundraiser that — through generous sponsorships and an exciting golf ball drop — raised vital funds for school enrichment. Continued investment in technology expanded student access to laptops and iPads, while a new content filter ensured safer internet use. Several facility improvements were also completed, carrying momentum into the next school year.

New Playground & Advanced Learning Resources

Thanks to the generosity of donors and the annual golf tournament, AGM unveiled a brand-new playground for preschool students, while elementary students gained access to advanced technology resources to enrich their learning experience.
